Pointless to delay any longer. I'm not a child, to put off a task that must be done simply because it may be difficult.
He was pleasant enough at the Queen's luncheon. I hadn't expected him to be there, but I am glad that he was. He is a good man. Cordial and respectful and tactful, and surely he is intelligent enough to see that my concerns are well-founded, and threaten him even as they threaten the work that Mother and I do here. We have every reason to work together. He will see it. He must.

I hope that it is no intrusion that I should write to you, today. I did so enjoy our conversation at the Queen's luncheon, this past week, and I hoped we might continue it, even if only in writing.
